George T. Ferguson, 85 of Zanesville, died 9:20 PM Monday, July 26, 2010 at Autumn Health Care following a lengthy illness. He was born Thursday, March 19, 1925 in Zanesville, the youngest son of Charles A. Ferguson and Esther J. (Byrne) Ferguson. He married Maxine E. (Moore) Ferguson on Monday, June 30, 1947 and was Catholic By Faith. George graduated from St. Nicholas School and was a United States Army Veteran serving during WW II stationed in New Guinea. He retired in 1990 following 40 years of service in the heavy construction industry. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and The Plumber and Pipe Fitters Union. In addition to his wife of 62 years: Maxine Ferguson, George's family includes three daughters: Beth Ann Beckwith of Zanesville, Valerie L. Snider of Zanesville and Jane E Thomas of Robinson, TX; two sons: Matt Ferguson of Zanesville and Patrick Ferguson of Granville; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents; two infant children; two sisters: Marie King and Josephine Ferguson and four brothers: John, Joseph, Peter, and Woodrow. Friends may call 2- 4 & 6-8 PM, Thursday, July 29, 2010 at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue where funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Friday, July 30th with Fr. Martin Ralko officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with VFW Post 1058 conducting Full Military Honors.
